NAME
telxcc - TELeteXt Closed Captions decoder
SYNOPSIS
telxcc [options] < input_file > output_file [ 2> log_file ]
DESCRIPTION
telxcc is utility extracting teletext Closed Captions from Transport Stream binary files (TS) into SubRip text files (SRT).
telxcc conforms to ETSI 300 706 Presentation Level 1.5: Presentation Level 1 defines the basic Teletext page, characterised by the use of spacing attributes only and a limited alphanumeric and mosaics repertoire. Presentation Level 1.5 decoder responds as Level 1 but the character repertoire is extended via packets X/26. Selection of national option sub-sets related features from Presentation Level 2.5 feature set have been implemented, too. (X/28/0 Format 1, X/28/4, M/29/0 and M/29/4 packets)
OPTIONS
- -V
- Prints out version and quit.
- -h
- Show a summary of command line options and exit.
- -i file
- Read source data from the transport stream file file. If file is a single dash (-) or whole option is absent, telxcc reads from the standard input.
- -o file
- Write subtitles in SubRip SRT file format (UTF-8 encoded) to file file. If file is a single dash (-) or whole option is absent, telxcc writes to the standard output. Note: in early versions -o option used to be used for offset settings (now -f).
- -v
- Verbose mode -- show a diagnostic during data processing.
- -p page
- Extract closed captions from specified teletext page page. Page must be in the range 100 -- 899. If this option is absent, telxcc uses the first suitable page carrying closed captions. CCs are usually transmitted via pages 888, 777, 555 etc.
- -t ID
- Analyze transport stream ID. If this option is absent, telxcc chooses first suitable stream specified in the transport stream's PMT table. If the value of 8192 is specified, the first detected stream will be used.
- -f offset
- Set subtitles' offset to the value of offset (specified in seconds, decimal number).
- -n
- Do not print UTF-8 BOM characters to the output. This option is implicit, if output is a terminal.
- -1
- Produce at least one (dummy) frame.
- -c
- Output colour information in font HTML tags. If this option is active, <>& characters are also translated into HTML entities.
- -s [reference]
- Activate search engine mode, i. e. produce absolute timestamps (in UTC) and output all captions from the screen in one line. If reference value (unix timestamp, integer) is omitted, use current system time. telxcc will automatically switch to transport stream UTC timestamps when available.
- -m
- input file format is BDAV MPEG-2 Transport Stream (BluRay and some IP-TV recorders)
EXIT STATUS
telxcc uses a common convention of zero (0) for success and non-zero (> 0) for error.
EXAMPLES
Command
telxcc < SWR_PID-804_PAGE-150.ts > SWR.srt
will extract CCs from TS file SWR_PID-804_PAGE-150.ts. All options will be autodetected.
